What is that noise coming from my engine compartment?
I drive a Honda Civic DX 2001 and yesterday while on my way home I noticed a new noise coming from under my hood. The sound is very, very soft, I have change my music to be very low or listen to it, but I know that did not exist before. I opened my hood when I got home to listen better and found that the noise was strongest near the belts, pulleys, alternator and the area under my hood. Its sounds like a very hollow whistle. (If that makes any sense) My check engine light is not on, but I'm still a little worried. thanks I'll see belts early in the moring
It may be one of the things that you mentioned. I would try to change the belt for the first time I think it's cheaper and easier to replace. That could be. I drive a 08 corolla and I have a whistle / squeaking noise under the hood and the belt was originally put up their Toyota corolla vacuum, so I went to Kragen and bought a new one and the noise was. I would try that. If it's not, maybe find a leak, but it sounds like a very serious problem.
