I moved to New York in 2003, at age 26. He lived mostly in the upper North Island (Inwood). Things I like about the City probably things I like most are the friends I made in the city. NY tends to develop diverse, interesting and intelligent people. Also NY is a true melting pot, people from everywhere. Now I have friends from Africa, Pakistan, Dominican Republic, Korea, Japan and more. Any type ethnic food you could want. (India, Thailand, and Ethiopia are some of my favorites). Personally, I love the museums here not everyone is a fan the museum, but there are some great museums here. Having time on the meter to read or chat with friends while traveling. This is an intangible, but there is a feeling you get NY living here feels like the center of everything and the energy and excitement of being the center is a cool feeling. Things I do not like the winter here is horrible, very cold and I find people tend to be less friendly and more angry about everything in the metro. Not having a car as it can be a pain to transport foods its in the subway. Crowds, especially if you must be a crazy party city as Times Square. The city can feel very dirty at times. I'm not a teenager, and can not refer to that experience for you, I think that parents can have a protective effect at first, but I see teenagers all the time is very common for teens to travel by themselves or with friends. One thing that is different from public schools here, then elsewhere is that New York has schools that specialize in specific subjects For example, you can have schools that focus on music, art or science. Hope this helps, especially, I'd be excited that NY is a cool place to live it takes some time to adjust to life here, but now I would not choose to live elsewhere.
