Can a person really go to jail for defending herself from the home invasion?

I heard about it in Mountain Home, Idaho, and Knoxville, TN. Is not this send a message to criminals that it is okay to steal from anybody home? The homeowner in Idaho was in a wheelchair, and lowered home invader Scott Free.

Well, I'm not sure of Idaho, but I am from Tennessee and this is not a common practice. Tennessee, like many other states that allow citizens to carry firearms on their person, have recently admitted the "Castle Doctrine". Florida was the first to do this. The name is so, since it began centuries ago when kings, lords, Dukes, and so made a law that legally kill anyone who got, attempted, or even seemed that they would attempt to enter the castle. Now, here's how it works in the U.S. If someone is trying to enter his home and especially if they are an immediate threat to you or your property and family, you can kill them. In other words, you can kill them without charges against them. If you are in your house, you can defend by any means necessary, and that law is in place well before the "Castle Doctrine" was amended. I know that in Tennessee, are authorized to carry weapons openly in public to comply with a permit to carry weapons certification. If someone is in danger the life of oneself or another, you can remove the threat any means necessary to the extent that they remain an immediate threat. If you are fleeing, even if they just shot his wife, the threat has passed and you can not shoot them. I personally try to have a fight in court, but that's the way the law is printed. I hope that gives you a little more.
