The best place to live in florida?
What town should i live in?
I need some place with lots of public transportation, not too crowded, affordable housing, close to the ocean, not too hot, more wam in the winter like anywhere from 50 to 80 degrees, somewhere more northern than south. what do you think of these places; cedar key, ocala, gainsville, sarasota,bradenton,saint petersburg and clearwater, fort myers, spring hill and dade vicinity? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I like the west coast of Florida, though you may need to get south of St. Petersburg area to guarantee the temperatures you want all winter. I experienced temperatures close to, or at, freezing in St. Pete’s in December (that was in 2003). Fort Myers Beach area was comfortable in January, but you might need long pants outside at night sometimes. So I would suggest Fort Myers and south. I liked Sarasota but did not particularly like Bradenton. Maybe I didn’t spend enough time there to really get to know the area, but that’s how I felt. If you go farther north in Florida than Fort Myers you may not have the winter temperatures you are looking for. My personal choice would be Key West or Cocoa Village. Key West has good public transportation, as does the Cocoa Village area. There is a little town in central Florida, on the Okeechobee Waterway that I think would be a great place to live – Labelle, a quiet sleepy little town – but you would need your own transportation, or do like my husband and I did – become avid bicycle riders. However, by my definition Florida is hot and humid in the summer, no matter where you are.
